The Romans employed logos to assist in
their trading activity. For example, this
logo cut into paving slabs in Pompeii,
points to a House of Eros!
They were also the first to truly use
logotype in their SPQR initials. They
can also be credited with the science
and development of typography.
The logo has been used by peoples
around the world to embody their
sense of nationhood, in peace
and war.
Logos therefore must communicate
messages quickly, without further
need of words or indeed knowledge
of a language.
No wonder then, that the world’s
best known companies have used
logos successfully for years.
Some Logos have been so
successful that they have
remained virtually unchanged
for years.
The Coca-Cola logo
in the framed picture of
the girl is circa 1930’s but
is still recognisably the same
as the one on this disposable
can in the 21st Century!
